Pétanque in Slovakia is organized nationally by the Slovenská federácia pétanque (SFP), the Slovak Federation of Pétanque, which unites every officially licensed Slovak player. Founded three decades ago, the federation now runs a domestic club league, fields teams internationally, and co-founded the regional Centrope Cup alongside its Central European neighbors.
History
The SFP was founded in 1994. The federation joined the Confédération Européenne de Pétanque (CEP) and the Fédération Internationale de Pétanque et de Jeu Provençal (FIPJP) in 2002, formalizing Slovakia's place in the sport's international structures. A domestic club competition, the Slovak league, has been contested since 2003, with winning clubs earning the right to represent Slovakia at the Pétanque EuroCup, held since 1998. Peter Šúry serves as the federation's president.
Clubs & Where to Play
Every licensed Slovak player belongs to one of 19 active clubs, spread across towns including Bratislava, Pezinok, Modra, Šaľa, Lučenec, Martin, Žilina, Vrútky, Košice, Trebišov, Michalovce, Cífer, and Svidník. Bratislava alone is home to several clubs registered with the SFP, including CAP, GULIVER, HOHENLOHE, JEWEL, PRASK, PREMIER, and SLOPAK, while CASSOVIA represents Košice, SPIDERS plays out of Pezinok, and LABOULE and MOPED are both based in Modra.
The country's flagship venue is the National Boulodrome (guľodrom) on Tyršovo nábrežie, a Danube embankment in Bratislava's Petržalka district, where the local city district organizes regular pétanque schools and training sessions for both the public and licensed players.

National Competition Calendar
The SFP's marquee annual event is the Majstrovstvá SR v petangu (Slovak Pétanque Championships), contested in men's and women's triples; the 2026 edition was held 11-12 May in Pezinok, organized by the Pezinský klub Petangu under SFP auspices. Beyond the national championship, Slovak clubs contest the Slovak league season and the country's fixtures in the Centrope Cup; the SFP Portal (portal.sfp.sk) is the authoritative source for the current season's full fixture list.
International Results
Slovak teams compete regularly at CEP and FIPJP-organized European Championships. At the 2023 European Pétanque Championship for veterans in Albertville, France, Slovakia advanced to the final of the Coupe des Nations (Nations Cup) Tableau B, defeating Scotland and then Finland 13-11 in a semi-final that ran two hours and forty minutes, before facing the Czech Republic in the final.
The Centrope Cup
Slovakia is one of the participating nations in the Centrope Cup, a recurring Central European pétanque tour open to any player holding a license from a FIPJP-recognized federation, alongside Czechia, Austria, Hungary, and Poland.
