The Youngest Marseillaise Champion

Adrien Delahaye holds one of French petanque's more striking records: at 17 years old, he became the youngest player ever to win the Mondial la Marseillaise a Petanque, the sport's largest annual open tournament, played each July at Marseille's Parc Borély. He is now established as a specialist shooter (tireur), having spent 2023 through 2025 with Fréjus International Pétanque before moving to CASE de Nice for the 2026 season.

2019: A Teenage Title Alongside Patrick Messonnier

Delahaye's breakthrough came at the 60th Mondial la Marseillaise a Petanque in 2019. Recruited as a teenage teammate by veteran pointer Patrick Messonnier, alongside fellow 17-year-old Joey Casale, the trio beat Simon Cortes, Christophe Bacchin and Alain Adell 13-8 in a final played on the Mucem esplanade. He returned to the tournament for its 2026 edition (the 65th) as one of the pre-tournament favorites, this time pairing with Mayron Baudino and David Riviera. Instead of a repeat title run, the trio suffered what regional broadcaster France 3 called a "séisme" (earthquake): eliminated in the qualifying (cadrages) rounds on 6 July 2026, losing 13-5 to a Martigues triplette of Christophe Leonetti, Jean-Philippe Leonetti and Alexandre Minko after leading 5-3 - a result made more striking by the fact that all three eliminated players were former Mondial champions in their own right.

European Espoirs Champion, 2022

Delahaye's clearest title outside the Marseillaise came at the 2022 European Espoirs (under-23) Championship in Palma de Mallorca. Playing alongside Mayron Baudino, Flavien Sauvage and Samuel Lamare, France's men's triplette beat Italy 13-9 in the final. The following year, playing for France's Espoirs squad at the 2023 Masters de Petanque in Cluses, his team (again with Baudino and Flavien Sauvage, plus Benoit Monros) reached the final before losing 13-1 to a Dylan Rocher-led triplette.

Club Career: Fréjus to Nice to Batforpro

Delahaye spent three seasons, 2023 through 2025, with Fréjus International Pétanque, where he helped the club to two editions of the Trophée des Villes, a Coupe de France des clubs, a Coupe d'Europe des clubs, and a Var departmental championship in mixed triplette. On his departure for the 2026 season, Fréjus's sports director thanked him publicly for his contribution to the club's development, as he moved to CASE de Nice - reuniting him with Baudino, his former Espoirs teammate, with whom he had already won a European title in 2022. A further move has since been announced for 2027: Team Batforpro, a new elite squad led by Claudy Weibel, the 2000 World Champion who also co-founded Messonnier's Toro Petank boules brand, with Delahaye named among its roster of shooters and pointers.

Collectif France, 2025

Delahaye was one of 14 men named to France's Collectif France Senior Masculin for the 2025 season, alongside players including Dylan Rocher, Mickael Bonetto, Henri Lacroix and Yohan Cousin. He was not among the seven players retained when the federation trimmed the squad for 2026 - a squad that, per this site's own Mayron Baudino profile, also left out Baudino himself despite a rankings-topping PPF season.

Playing Style

Delahaye plays as a shooter (tireur), the role in which he won both his 2019 Marseillaise title and his 2022 European Espoirs crown. Sportmag has credited him with holding a youth precision-shooting record of 61 points, underlining a reputation built on clearing opposing boules under pressure rather than laying them close to the jack.

Still only in his mid-twenties, Adrien Delahaye has already spent nearly a decade at the top of French club petanque, bookended by a teenage Marseillaise title that remains the youngest in the tournament's history and a 2022 European Espoirs crown won alongside players, Mayron Baudino chief among them, who have gone on to notable careers of their own. A 2025 national-squad call-up and a fresh move to a Claudy Weibel-led project for 2027 suggest a player still building toward the senior international recognition that has so far eluded him.
