World Pétanque Championship: Complete History and Records

The World Pétanque Championship (Championnats du Monde de Pétanque) is the pinnacle of international competition in the sport. A Brief History of the World Championship

The journey began in 1959 in the town of Spa, Belgium, where the first Men's Triples championship was held. At the time, the sport was primarily concentrated in France and its neighboring countries. Over the decades, the FIPJP expanded the tournament to recognize the growing talent pool worldwide.

• 1987: First Junior (Youth) Triples World Championship (Hasselt, Belgium).

Individual & Precision Shooting Records

The Precision Shooting (Tir de Précision) competition is a fan favorite, testing a player's ability to hit targets under extreme pressure.

• Men's Record: 67 points (World Record shared by multiple players, including Diego Rizzi).
• Women's Record: 61 points (Held by Angelique Papon of France, set in 2006). Cambodia's Ke Leng is the discipline's most decorated champion, with four consecutive Women's World Precision Shooting titles from 2013 to 2019.

The Legends of the Game
