Pétanque in Bolivia

Bolivia is one of the newest national federations recognized by the Fédération Internationale de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal (FIPJP), joining in 2025 as part of the sport's continued growth across the Pan America Confederation. The federation is based in La Paz and made its first appearance on the regional competitive stage the same year it joined, at a qualifying tournament in Chile.

Federación Boliviana de Petanque

The Fédération Bolivienne de Petanque (Bolivia Petanque Federation) became a member of the FIPJP in 2025, per FIPJP's own nation record. The federation is headquartered at Sopocachi, Av. 6 de Agosto #2563, La Paz, Bolivia, and is led by president Yerko Castro Fernandez. Bolivia is one of the 14 member federations of the Pan America Petanque Confederation (PAPC), alongside Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

International Competition

Bolivia entered the men's triples field at the Panamericano Clasificatorio de Petancas Iquique 2025, held 5-7 November 2025 in Iquique, Chile, and organized by the Bochas Iquique and Sportiva Italiana de Iquique clubs together with the Municipality of Iquique. Ten nations competed for three qualifying places at that year's Men's Triples World Championship - host Chile, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru, and Argentina - with Argentina's trio ultimately claiming the third and final qualifying spot. Bolivia's individual results at Iquique were not independently confirmed.

Beyond the FIPJP nation record and Bolivia's entry at the Iquique 2025 qualifier, no clubs, registered players, domestic competitions, or ongoing 2026 activity could be independently confirmed. petanque-world.com's Bolivia listing shows no clubs, players, or competitions, and petanque-generation.fr's international competition directory returns no results for Bolivia. Whether the federation has since built out a club network in La Paz or elsewhere, and whether president Yerko Castro Fernandez remains in post, could not be confirmed from available sources as of this writing.
